Art lesson #9: Female Character/Heroine

OK now we're talking. Look at the exercise above and you can see it follows the same things we've been learning.

If you've been drawing and following this then you would have some sketches at hand that you can improve on. If not GO BACK! If you are serious about learning how to draw then you've got to take action and make things happen.

So let's get cracking.

STEP 1: Start with the stick figure as shown. Do that and get the proportions right. There are some important things such as line of action and how to create dynamic characters that you'll learn in the course but that's for the home study course at the end of these lessons.

STEP 2: Draw the shapes. Use cylinders and whatever shapes best fit that body part. Outline the figure and start to add a bit more definition. Make sure you use light strokes and add onto the lines you see are working.

STEP 3: Put in the details and make these clearer. Again don't worry if it's not perfect. The next image you do will be better.

STEP 4: Erase the lines that are not working and clean up your drawing. You'll start to see a gradual improvement and just with the tiny amount of lessons you've learned here you should have already improved your skills.

This lesson was a bit harder but we wanted to jump a few steps to give you the good stuff. The home study course has many more lessons and steps to work on.
